Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has been training hard for the upcoming NFL season, and often that means getting sweaty. On Tuesday, he was caught taking off his T-shirt to towel off after a workout and the photos immediately went viral as fans realized why he earned the name “Big Yeti”.
Kelce not ashamed of his “Big Yeti” moniker
In the shirtless pics, Kelce shows off his hairy chest and back without shame. In fact, last year, he explained on his “New Heights” podcast with his brother Jason that he was given the “Big Yeti” nickname for exactly that reason.
“When Trav was at Cincinnati, he would play basketball in the playground quite a bit,” Jason Kelce said. “And anyone who has ever played pickup basketball, you know there’s shirts and skins.”
“Shirts and skins dog, that’s the only way to separate the teams,” Travis said. “I had the big beard, I had the long hair. I had the chest hair, back hair, arm hair, leg hair. It’s just a big ole Yeti out there, man. All the homies on the court were calling me ‘Big Yeti.’”
Even Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins weighed in on the photos.
“God bless Taylor Swift for being good with that,” Kirk told E! News Cohost Keltie Knight. “That’s awesome. Good for her.”
Clearly, Swift doesn’t mind. And thankfully Kelce himself isn’t bothered by it either, but rather embracing his body hair.
“I’m a furry son of a b***h,” Kelce said on the May 21 episode of his “New Heights” podcast. “Me and heat just don’t do well together.”
