The Jacksonville Jaguars believe that they have secured the services of a generational talent in Travis Hunterthe cornerback/wide receiver selected with the No. 2 overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Hunter was a star in college for the Jackson State Tigers and the Colorado Buffaloes, winning the Heisman Trophy with the latter in 2024. The two-way sensation is an incredible physical athlete and he will be a problem for opposition teams to contend with in the NFL.
There is a lot of excitement around Hunter ahead of his rookie season. A genuinely elite two-way talent is a rare thing in the professional game but he has the tools to contribute on both sides of the ball. He starred in college but recently revealed the toughest opponent that he faced, Tetairo McMillan.
Hunter spoke directly to McMillan on a recent podcast appearance and was full of praise for the Carolina Panthers rookie.
“They don’t give you enough credit because you was definitely the toughest receiver I ever played. I always tell everybody that,” Hunter told McMillan. “Because you do everything. You’ve got the speed, you’ve got the hands, you’re tough and you’re not gonna let anybody get you out your game.”
McMillan was selected by the Panthers with the No. 8 overall pick at the 2025 NFL Draft. The Hawaiian-born wide receiver represented the Arizona Wildcats in college, recording 213 receptions and 26 touchdowns across 37 NCAA appearances.
Jacksonville limped to a 4-13 record in 2024, failing to build on two winning seasons under head coach Doug Pederson. He left at the end of last season and Liam Coen was named the new head coach for 2025.
The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator makes the interstate switch from West to Northern Florida. Jaguars owner Shahid Khan has big expectations for the team and has shown that he won’t tolerate underperformance from a talented group of players.
