Dallas Cowboys 2025 Draft class ranks highest on PFF’s list of draft grades

The Dallas Cowboys are still trying to recover from a disastrous 2024 season that saw them go 7-10 and miss the playoffs. The offseason started with owner Jerry Jones letting coach Mike McCarthy go and promoting offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to head coach in his place.

Next up were some trades, extensions, and the NFL Draft. And unlike last year, the Cowboys had a pretty decent draft.

Cowboys draft well in 2025

Recent history has not favored the Cowboys as far as their ofseason moves. However, this year, Pro Football Focus gave Dallas the highest grade of all the teams, with an A+. The Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals were the only other NFL teams to receive such a high mark.

After sending their fourth-round pick to Carolina mid-season for wide receiver Jonathan Mingo, the Cowboys had nine picks in this year’s draft, selecting Alabama guard Tyler Booker in the first round.

“Booker – Zack Martin’s retirement in March left a hole on the Cowboys’ interior offensive line. Booker, the 48th-ranked prospect on the PFF Big Board, profiles as a bit of a reach but a talent who fills a definite need up front in Dallas,” PFF wrote. “The Alabama guard earned an 86.5 PFF pass-blocking grade in 2024, which will provide an instant boost to a Cowboys offense that ranked 23rd in PFF pass-blocking grade (62.1) this past season.”

The Cowboys filled most of their needs in the draft with the exception of a wide receiver, the first time the team hasn’t drafted a WR since 2020. Jones has said that he’s not closing the door on adding more players this offseason before workouts and training camp begin. The Cowboys are still searching for an “explosive” WR2 behind CeeDee Lamb.

“It was definitely a big time thought,” Jones said about trading for a receiver. “The train has not left the station if improvement is needed from what we’ve got on campus.”

Currently, behind Lamb, the Cowboys have got Jalen Tolbert, Parris Campbell, Ryan Flournoy, Jalen Brooks and Jonathan Mingo in the wide receiver room.
