For Shedeur Sandersthe wait goes on. The Colorado quarterback was expected to be one of the first QBs off the board at the 2025 NFL Draft but he will have to wait until day three, at least.
Sanders was a surprise omission from the round one picks and he remained unchosen through round two as well. He was once tipped as a potential No. 1 pick but his stocks appear to have plummeted in recent weeks.
During his college career Sanders played under father Deion Sanders, himself an NFL legend. Shedeur impressed at Colorado and won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award in 2024 and completed 74.0% of his passes across the year.
Ahead of the draft Sanders met with the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders and looked a dead cert first round pick. However all four of those teams have passed on the chance to sign him and three quarterbacks have been taken ahead of him.
Cameron Ward of Miami was selected by the Tennessee Titans with the No. 1 overall pick, while Mississippi QB Jaxson Dart was taken by the New York Giants with the 25th. In round two, Tyler Shough of Louisville went with the No. 40 overall pick.
“I’m built for whatever today may bring,” Shedeur wrote on social media ahead of the Draft. It will have been a tough couple of days for the young star as he awaits to discover his NFL fate.
