Colombia has witnessed valuable talents that are forged in professional football teams and subsequently make the leap to other countries or in the best case, European football, where many dream of arriving.
The clearest and most representative examples are Luis Díaz, Jhon Jader Durán, Daniel Muñoz and dozens of players who militate in the most important leagues around the world.
They are the main referents today, like the rest of Colombian soccer players who shine in their international teams, had to pass an extensive process before leaving the country.
Precisely, in a new ranking delivered by the CIES Football Observatory, he announced that Colombia is one of the countries that most exports players.
But where are the coffee talents mostly when they leave the country?
This measurement gives a wide panorama of what has happened with the players from 2020 to the present.
According to the data revealed to May 1, 2025, there were 470 Colombians in the foreign leagues, which is an “increase of 120 players since 2020 (+34%)”.
As for countries, there are three that exceed 100 players, being Peru with 109, Mexico registering 105 and Panama with 102.
Taking into account destinations outside America, the main destinations are Portugal (45 different players between 2020 and 2025) and Spain with 37.
In addition, significant growth is highlighted, since in 2020 there were 350 departures, while by 2025, there are already 470 players who were exported from Colombia.
