Dimayor revealed, on Wednesday, May 21, a new format that will have the Betplay 2025 Cup, a tournament that brings together the 36 professional football teams in Colombia. Among important modifications, there was one that caught the attention between clubs and fans, as there will no longer have an economic prize for the champion.

In the press conference where President Ramón Jesurún and the top leader of the Dimayor, Carlos Mario Zuluaga, talked about the awards presented by the competition.

In this regard, it was indicated that the team, which is enshrined as a champion of the Cup in this edition, will not receive an economic prize from the organizer.

It is worth remembering that in the 2024 season, there was recognition when they were delivered $ 150,000 as part of the award for the best club of the contest.

Why will the Cup champion have no economic prize?

However, by 2025, the prize that the winner will obtain will be the classification to Copa Sudamericana, in this case, of 2026.

“The Cup has a Grand Prix that is participation in the South American Cup, economically does not reach us for now, but we want us to have better incentives in the future,” said the president of the Dimayor.

Zuluaga insisted that the short -term objective is to start delivering money to the team that raises the trophy, but, for now, different factors prevent this from being performed.
