The former Vice Chief of Government, Josef Pröll, new president of Austrian Federation


Josef Pröll, A former Federal Vice Chancellor of Austria was elected this new president of the Austrian Football Federation (ÖFB), the APA news agency reported.

The decision was made unanimously by the members of the General Assembly of the ÖFB, gathered in Bregenz, at the western end of the Alpine country.

Pröll, 57, was head of the Övp Democristian Party, Minister of Finance and Vice Chief of Austria Government between 2008 and 2011, when he retired from politics after suffering a pulmonary embolism.

The conservative expolitic thus replaces two interim managers, who had assumed the reins of the ÖFB in the last two years after the resignation in 2023 of the then President Gerhard Milletich, accused of corruption.
