Did you know that the U-17 Women's Colombia National Team already knows what it is to be South American champion? It is not something that always happens, in fact, it was only once.

It all happened in 2008when the South American female U-17 was played for the first time. It was in Chile and Colombia took the title, thus classifying the World Cup in New Zealand.

It was a new, unprecedented tournament, and Colombia arrived without much pressure. The group to shared it with Argentina, Ecuador, Bolivia and the host selection. The debut was on January 14 with a draw against Ecuador, thanks to a goal from Yoreli Rincón.

Then the forcefulness would come: he thrashed 3-0 to Argentina With triplet of Tatiana Ariza. A match that marked the path of what would be a campaign full of goals.

The group stage ended with Two draws (before Ecuador and Chile) and two victories, including a 5-0 win to Bolivia with so many of Yoreli Rincón, Tatiana Ariza, Ingrid Vidal and Natalia Gaitán's double. Colombia finally passed as a second group.

Already in the final phase, the challenge was greater: They faced Argentina, Paraguay and the powerful Brazil. There was nothing to do the Brazilians and fell 3-1.

Then came a blunt victory against Argentina 4-1 with double Laura Marcela Cosme and so many of Ingrid Vidal and Tatiana Ariza.

Already at the closure there was a real exhibition. Colombia thrashed Paraguay 7-2 And it was totally decisive because, added to the goal difference, this gave the Tricolor the title of champions.

In that last game, they marked Gaitán, Ariza, Sánchez, Vidal, Cosme, Rincón and Salazar. A team of talents that, years later, many would continue to shine.
