Vicente Calderón Not only is he the most important president in the history of Atlético de Madrid. Nor is it only the house of all rojiblancos since 1966. It is much more. And we talk in the present, because what remains in the memory never dies. And to this also contributes a group that has broken into the musical panorama and that is called that, Vicente Calderón.
MD is left with them at their trial premises in Carabanchelnear the sacred temple, to chat of melodies, lyrics and football. Curiosities crowd. The name was chosen by a Madrid player, Julian A Angela He doesn't like football, but he hits the rojiblanco. TO Iker Barça throws him. Rafiwhich was from Atleti, made Liverpool for Torres. AND Elenathe most mats, could not go to the appointment for being sick. Are Vicente Calderón. Now we will know them more, but for those who want to feel their strength and enjoy with their powerful direct, on May 22 they play in the Nazca room of the capital.
How is your first album, Vicente Calderón?

Someone who has never listened to you, what would you tell him to find himself on that album?
Angela: “Well, a little of everything. There is Vicente Calderón before, which was more punk, and in the last there is some ballad.”

What style can you classify you? There is indie but there are also themes that remind the music of the movement …
Rafi: “Yes, they tell us a lot. My parents say it reminds them of what they listened to young people, but there are ballads, there are issues of various styles. Rock, punk, indie … there is a bit of everything. We don't pigeonholes.”
Julian: “We try not to focus only on one thing, we are trying to see what is cool more and what gives us the most game on stage.”
Iker: “What we like to play.”
Angela: “We have many influences of many music styles and that is then reflected.”
That was going to be the next question, your influences …
Rafi: “Los Wombats”.
Angela: “The Beatles and everything around it.”
Julian: “Oasis and also Beatles, go a little hand.”
Iker: “Queens of the Stone Age”.
Rafi: “Elena listens more urban music, we play all the sticks and is reflected in the album and songs.”
How is the group formed?
Julian: “I had three themes recorded in Barcelona, I returned to Madrid and told Rafi 'hey, I have a musical project, I would like to form a band, get in bassist'. It was the fourth option (laughs). Then I met Angela at Café La Palma, she introduced me to Iker, which was the first battery, but we needed to improve sound and he took the guitar and arrived Elena after a casting.”
Of the ten themes of the album, which one do you have each one?
Rafi: “Broken teeth, it is one of the few in which I have made the base.”
Angela: “For not repeating I would say last party or everyone cries.”
Julian: “Number 1”.
Iker: “I have friends, which is the one that opens the album and I like it a lot”:

And the one that people like the most?
All: “Broken teeth.”
“We try to laugh out loud of society”
In the letters, satire is seen, criticism of society …
Julian: “Yes, we try to laugh out loud of society. It is what I always try to put in the letters unless they break my heart, which is what has happened a little in the second half of the album.”

In the video clips there are many references to football and politicians, two things about which is criticized a lot in this country.
Julian: “It is what is most talked about in Spain, football and politics.”
Angela: “Football was difficult not to reflect it in some way in a group called Vicente Calderón.”
Rafi: “We started very football players, we made chromos at first and everything, but it could not be our personality. Although with that name it is impossible to separate you at all.”
Come, then we go with the name, that they will never ask you.
Julian: “No, you are the first (laughs). I lived in Legazpi, near the Calderón, and I thought I would call a band that way. And that I am from Madrid. I have never sympathized with Atleti, now a little more. And that is the story, it does not have much more mystery.”
Rafi: “I was from the Atleti as a child. Elena is very Atleti. I was very much from Torres and when she signed for Liverpool I made my Liverpool. I have continued to be from Atleti, my whole family is from Atleti, I have gone a lot to the Calderón, but if now I have to choose a team, it is the Liverpool.”
Angela: “I don't like football, so I can make myself.
Iker: “I was a little boy from Barça, then I stopped like football a little but now with Flick is like it again.”

Are you aware that your name will always be linked to Atlético de Madrid?
Angela: “It seems great to me. In the end it is an emblem of the city, the person and the stadium.”
Iker: “Elena is very Atleti, she has the flags in the room. On that side …”
Julian: “It is the price to pay for that name (laughs).”
But you put it!
Julian: “Already, now. My father, who is a madridista to death, will never forgive me.”
There are many young Madrid groups that have also chosen iconic names of the city. Alcalá Norte, La Paloma, Vicente Calderón …
Angela: “There was a previous time, a generation before, that in terms of music it was a little detached from the Spanish style, they sang in English, they were very fixed in outside groups. And in our generation you have tried more to recover your roots, Madrid, Spain.”
Rafi: “It is a bit counter -registration. The previous generation sought to succeed was singing in English. They doubted if you could succeed in the indie singing in Spanish. We have not sought it, but a new wave of groups that dare to sing in Spanish has emerged because there is a public.”
Julian: “The same in ten years is sung in French.”
Angela: “Everything returns. The previous ones had that already to look at the movement and things like that.”

What memories do you have of the Vicente Calderón stadium?
Rafi: “Many, I have gone many times. My first concert was also there, Coldplay, with 12 years. The presentation of Torres when he returned, Champions rooms against Barça. I have been very Atleti.”
Iker: “I also went there to my first concert: Guns N 'Roses. It was the last of Calderón.”
Angela: “I was only in a concert, seeing Paul McCartney, but now I would not know where Vicente Calderón was. I am not from Madrid and when I moved no longer existed.”
Julian: “I have seen football in Calderón. Spain-Argentina, Spain-Turkish and a derby. None concerts.”
“It is a shame not to be able to touch in Calderón, but doing it in the Metropolitan would be incredible.”
It is a shame that you will not be able to play in 'your stadium …
Rafi: “Yes, it is a shame. But we can think that if we do not touch there it is not because we have not reached the top, but because you cannot.”
And in the Metropolitan?
Rafi: “Hopefully, hopefully. It would be incredible.”
Julian: “Always dreaming.”
We end. Answer with a word each. What is Vicente Calderón?
Rafi: “Fun”.
Angela: “Friends”.
Iker: “Loyed.”
Julian: “The best.”
