A rookie deal, a statement made: The Cowboys are locked in

The Dallas Cowboys started their rookie minicamp on Friday and before things kicked off, they made their first-round draft pick an official part of the team. Former Alabama offensive lineman Tyler Booker was the Cowboys’ first overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draftand now he’ll be in charge of protecting quarterback Dak Prescott.

Tyler Booker’s contract with the Cowboys

The Cowboys signed Booker to a four-year, $22.553 million contract with a signing bonus of $13 million.

With his rookie contract signed, the Cowboys became the first NFL team to sign their first-round pick. Now, they just need to come to deals with defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku and running back Jaydon Blue.

“We were both on the same page,” Booker wrote after signing the deal with Dallas. “We know that this rookie contract, Lord willing, the first of a couple that I have coming in front of me. I was just focused on getting to work.

This is a new focus for the Cowboys, who have been much busier this offseason than last season, and fans are pleased to see them being active. After a disappointing 2024 season, it’s nice to see Dallas making moves.

Once the rookies are all squared away with contracts, the Cowboys will have to confront superstar Micah Parsons’ contract. The edge rusher is set for an extension as he enters the fifth year of his rookie contract, and Jerry Jones – as we have seen before – can only put it off for so long. Fans will hope to see a more active approach where that’s concerned as well, as putting off Prescott’s and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb’s extensions last season only served to harm the team.
