Andrés Iniesta stare in the eyes of his interlocutor. He doesn't look at any time. It transmits to its 40 years the safety of a solid person. He talks about his second book, 'The mind also plays', in which there are hardly any references to goals, coaches or colleagues of the ball. He has just shot an ad in some studies in Barcelona and sits down with the newspaper of Catalonia in a conversation in which the issues that usually contain interviews with soccer players do not come out. The tortuous trip with 12 years from Fuentealbilla to La Masia with 12 years, depression in the magical course of the conquest of a Champions and World Cup and how to escape from darkness are part of the menu.
-If their 14 daughter or your son of almost 10 were called from the Liverpool Academy or Manchester City, what would you tell you?
–Well, I would like to analyze the situation in all its context to make an adequate decision. I think it is different from what I found at the time, but it would not be easy. I don't want to consider it either. If it arrived, then it would be necessary to see it, but it would not be easy.
-In the book projects an image of a very familiar person. Do you have to see with your unusual childhood / adolescence?
-No. I think that family profile I have always had it. I don't know if it's because we are from a town and we have always been together, but it has always been a very real feeling. It is not that for having separated from my parents the family issue has come very strong, but I think that is something that I have always had.
-Would you say that courage is needed to undress the way he does in the book?
-It thought so. Now, I do not know if because of my way of being or because of my way of taking the circumstances, I see it more normal than maybe from the outside you can perceive. Both the good and the not so good are part of life, or of my life, and it is not that I feel the need to do so, but I do understand that he is a public person and there are many people who follow you, see you and believe that everything is always beautiful, but it is not so, neither for me nor for anyone.
-I remember that his magical year in football was actually the most complicated personally. Do you know badly, looking back, not being able to enjoy it in a slightly fuller way?
-The circumstances were what were and talking about things that have not happened is a waste of time. I believe that within the bad I enjoyed the parts that touched me on that path. Obviously, because the end was wonderful, I have a very powerful memory and feeling, and everything is a consequence of not giving you, to have a clear determination of where you want to go, to do everything possible to get to it. Because in the end, if you stop and give up and do not find the exit routes surely everything would have been totally different. So, I feel proud of that, because I enjoyed it as I played.
“I think that all people, without being aware, have a something, an internal capacity in the face of very complicated situations of not surrendering, to trust oneself”
-In the book you can doubt what we commonly understand about what strength is and what weakness is.
-I endure what they throw me to get what I want, but I would say that, more than strongly, I am or I have been a person with determination and conviction in what I have done.
-Subraya the importance of not giving up.
-I think all people, without being aware, have something, an internal capacity in the face of very complicated situations of not giving up, to trust oneself. They are feelings that one must always be very present.
-And professional sport in this regard is a great resistance school.
-Yes, no doubt. Since you are little, you learn, you fail, you are getting right … It is a very powerful school. And then you can try to surround yourself with people who guide you.
-In the process, has it become more spiritual?
-I don't know whether to call it spiritual, but I think I have a different awareness of years ago and try to put it into practice in my day to day.
-And more religious?
-I have always been a religious, believer person, and in that sense I have the question of faith in mind.
-Cree also in something that defines as energy.
-With the passage of time I believe a lot in that energy, in that connection or in that something that maybe it goes beyond the purely rational.
-You have been preparing for a new life for some time. What steps have you started? He has talked about wanting to be a coach.
-Now I am giving continuity to the different projects parallel to football, different fields in which we have been working. And then I have the goal of training as a coach, something that I have already started and that I am sure that I want to do. At the same time I enjoy doing other things, especially at the family level, that before, because of the demands of my profession, I did not give me to do so. Let's say I'm very happy this next step.
-You are an immaculate reputation legend and, on the other hand, there is no trade that erosion as much as the coach. Are you prepared for that?
-He today, surely not. In a few years, let's see. I have never been to put doubts to what I want to do. When I want something I do not consider that it can go wrong, but I accept the challenge and face it. Like when I was a footballer: I will be wrong, I will be right and make my way.
-And where can you take the first steps on the bench?
-If I'm sincere, I don't know, or I haven't thought about it very clearly. I am still at the beginning of everything and when I advance a little more I can say what I want, where and how.
-Guardiola said years ago that you had to look at you even if it would not carry piercing or tattoos. Do you still not carry anything engraved on the skin?
-No. I can't betray the phrase (laughs).
