The Bayern Munich thrashed the Mainz (3-0) on Saturday to stay in charge of the classification of a Bundesliga that could conquer the next day. The Bavarian, who will face Leipzig next weekend, could proclaim league champions in a match in which Harry Kane will not participate.
Bad news in football terms continue to prime with the English striker. Well known is the curse that chases Harry Kane. The Bayern ram has not yet managed to win any title in its extensive career, either at the Club level or with its selection, where it was runner -up of the 2020 Eurocup (played in 2021).
His long career in Tottenham left an indelible mark on the London club. However, he stayed with the thorn of not being able to raise any trophy in more than a decade forming part of the Spurs. The closest thing that stayed was in the runner -up of the Champions League 2018/2019.
Hunger of titles
With a lot of titles, Harry Kane decided to finish his stage at Tottenham in 2023 to set up to Bayern Munich. The British was a winning bet. He signed for a club that chained 11 consecutive Bundesligas. But things were not going to come out as expected last season.
Just the year Kane signed for Bayern, Xabi Alonso appeared to extend his curse. The Bayer Leverkusen destroyed the 'Bavarian' in the Bundesliga, a trophy that had been conquering Bayern continuously since the 2012/2013 season. Nor did the Germany Cup or the Champions win.
Fifth yellow
Now, at 31 and fifteen seasons after debuting in professional football, Harry Kane will end his curse and can add the first title to his record. But he will do it with a very bitter taste, away from the pitch.
“What a crazy decision I will miss the game against Leipzig, but calm. I will celebrate it more than anyone”Kane said after winning the Mainz. And it is that the English international saw its fifth yellow of the season in the Bundesliga, a card for wasting time that will force him to absent next Saturday against Leipzig.
It will not be an easy task for Bayern adding the three points in the Red Bull Arena, but those of Vincent Kompany are clear favorites to win a match that will make them mathematically league champions without Kane about green.
