The wife and son of Ecuadorian footballer Jackson Rodríguez, of the club Emelec of Guayaquilwere kidnapped at the player's homeaccording to preliminary police reports.
“Unidentified subjects, entered the player's home, in the early hours of Wednesday, violently and, in addition to stealing several objects and cash, they took the wife and son of the footballer,” said the police.
He also reported that Rodriguez left the event unharmed and meets police protection, while the authorities have initiated investigations to find the player's whereabouts.
Emelec maintains total secrecy on the current situation of its left end.
The kidnapping occurred in the coastal city of Guayaquil, capital of the province of Guayas, one of the most affected by violence in the Andean country, which is under a declaration of 'Internal armed conflict' Since January 2024.
When issuing that declaration, the president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboahe called “terrorists” to criminal groups, to which the high rates of violence facing the country and those that are linked to drug trafficking activities are attributed.
